What is Proxy Bidding?
What is a Proxy Bid?
There are two ways to bid on a vehicle at Public Auto Auction here in Texas. We've got hundreds of great vehicles of all types just waiting for your bid.
The Proxy Bid
Proxy bidding is when the computer bids for you, up to a maximum amount you've selected. These proxy bids will never exceed that maximum amount. You have to raise that maximum manually.
The software will then automatically place bids for you in the preset increment for that car, $25 for example, and it will continue to do so until either
a.) someone outbids your maximum bid, or
b.) your bid amount is the high bid and bidding stops.
Proxy bidding will continue even during the actual auction events. Our actions are every Saturday at 10 AM.
Bid Live
The second way to bid is to wait until the auction begins on Saturday morning. When the auction begins, place your bids against all other bidders in attendance and against proxy bids still in effect.
Proxy bidding can take place as soon as a vehicle is placed in an auction. If your proxy is outbid, you will get an email notification.
How to Proxy Bid?
First, you'll need to register. You'll create an account, upload documentation, credit card information and select a bidder type. After that, you'll have access to the bidding platform where you can set a maximum proxy bid amount and start bidding on desired vehicles.
Please be careful and certain when placing any proxy bids at the auction. If you place a winning bid, you will be responsible for the purchase of the vehicle.
